Galaxy Watch FE Picks Up One UI 8 Watch Update

Samsung has released the One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch FE. The rollout begins in South Korea, with a wider availability expected in the coming days. The Galaxy Watch 4 series should also receive this update before the end of the year.
One UI 8 Watch arrives on Galaxy Watch FE
The Wear OS 6–based One UI 8 Watch update is now available for the Galaxy Watch FE with firmware version R861XXU1CYK6. This release includes the October 2025 security patch, which is not the most recent one. However, the update is primarily about new features.
Users can expect a major UI design refresh, enhanced animations, improved system fluidity, and several new features and enhancements. One UI 8 Watch brings overhauled widgets, updated health tracking features, and a cleaner, more modern interface across core apps.
Debuted with the Galaxy Watch 8 series, the new version has already made it to the Watch 7, Watch 6, and Watch 5 lineups, as well as the Watch Ultra. Samsung is expected to roll out this update to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic soon. After all, the Watch FE is pretty much a rebadged Watch 4.
However, since it arrived a few years after the Watch 4, this is only its second major OS upgrade. For those using a Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic, One UI 8 will be the final OS release. These watches will no longer receive feature updates in the future.
If you are using a Wear OS Galaxy Watch and haven’t received the One UI 8 upgrade, you can check for it through the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired phone. Go to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install to see if an update is available. Once downloaded, tap Install now to proceed. Your watch will reboot and complete the installation.
