Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy Watch FE in the United States. The update, which includes the May 2025 security patch, is currently available for the LTE model on Verizon’s network. It is expected to reach more carriers and regions in the coming days.

Galaxy Watch FE picks up the May security update as Samsung readies One UI 8 Watch

The Galaxy Watch FE is an affordable smartwatch that Samsung launched last year. Users can identify the latest update via the build number R866USQS1AYE9. While this update doesn’t appear to bring visible new features, it does enhance its security and stability. The release notes mention last month’s security patch, which addresses several dozen vulnerabilities.

To check for the update manually, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone and go to Watch Settings. Now, navigate to the Watch software update menu and tap Download and install. If an update is available, you’ll be prompted to download it. If not, wait a few days and check again.

As said earlier, this Galaxy Watch FE is currently limited to select units in the US. Samsung should gradually expand it to more markets. It comes right on the heels of the company announcing One UI 8 Watch beta. Samsung said the Galaxy Watch 5 and newer models will get the beta update, so the FE should be eligible. The Galaxy Watch 4 misses out.

As Samsung lays the groundwork for the One UI 8 Watch beta, which begins later this month, these preparatory updates ensure your Galaxy Watch FE is running smoothly and securely. If you’re planning to participate in the beta, keeping your device up to date is essential. Stay tuned for more updates, and be sure to install the latest firmware to enjoy a more stable and reliable smartwatch experience.
