Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 5 Pro Receive a Massive Update in Korea

by | Apr 28, 2025 | Galaxy Watch, Updates

Samsung has begun rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, starting in South Korea. It’s quite a substantial update for the Watch series. Typically, when an update is this large, it introduces new features or major improvements. But this time, we don’t know what’s inside.

Samsung rolls out a pretty massive software update to Galaxy Watch 5 series

The new software update is now rolling out to both the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro in South Korea. The update is around 460MB in size and comes with firmware versions R910XXU1CYCD for the Watch 5 and R920XXU1CYCD for the Watch 5 Pro (via Aptivi). It also includes the March 2025 security patch to enhance the device’s protection.

Samsung has been on a roll lately with software updates, so this one comes as no surprise. Since Samsung hasn’t shared much information in the release notes, it’s hard to say exactly what changes are included. We’ll have to wait for the update to arrive in the United States, United Kingdom, or India to test it out firsthand. We expect the rollout to expand to other regions soon.

If you’re in South Korea with a Galaxy Watch 5 or Watch 5 Pro, you can install the update now. To do so, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone, go to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install. Your watch will restart once during the update process.

That said, the Wear OS 6-based One UI Watch 7 update is still a little way off, but the beta program could kick off soon. We’ll keep you posted when that happens.
