Galaxy S27 Lineup Could See a Major Shift Toward Exynos Chips

Samsung appears to be growing increasingly confident in its in-house mobile processors. Korean media reports suggest the company plans to power around 50% of next year’s Galaxy S27 units with the Exynos 2700. By comparison, Exynos chips are estimated to account for roughly 25% of the Galaxy S26 lineup this year.
Samsung has high hopes for Exynos 2700, could use it in Galaxy S27 Ultra
Last year, Samsung launched its first foldable with an Exynos processor. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 arrived running the Exynos 2600 globally. The company followed up with the Exynos 2600 in the Galaxy S26 and S26+ in most markets. However, the Galaxy S26 Ultra still features Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon flagship worldwide. Since the Ultra outsells the other two models combined by a huge margin, Exynos’ share is comparatively small.
Samsung aims to change that with the Exynos 2700 next year. Rumors about the next Exynos making it into the Galaxy S27 Ultra have been around for a while, and another report now suggests the same. According to Yonhap News Agency, the Exynos 2700 could be used in around 50% of Galaxy S27 devices. That’s only possible if Samsung uses the chip in the Ultra model.
The new Exynos will be fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s second-gen 2nm process. Alongside CPU gains, Samsung is allegedly focusing on pushing graphics performance further. Reports suggest the company is aiming for GPU performance that could compete with or even surpass Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. Advanced packaging technology could also help improve power efficiency, thermal management, and data transfer.
Samsung’s ultimate goal is to exclusively use Exynos chips in Galaxy phones. Even though its smartphone and semiconductor divisions operate separately, reducing reliance on external companies (read Qualcomm) will help manage costs, as Snapdragon chips are comparatively costlier than Exynos solutions. However, it may take a few years for Samsung to realize this dream.
