Galaxy S26 Ultra May Stick with Same 200MP Camera

Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is starting to take shape through early leaks and reports, and if you were hoping for major upgrades, these early rumors may leave you underwhelmed. It was recently revealed that the 2026 Ultra will keep a 5,000mAh battery, likely paired with the same 45W charging speed. Now, a new leak claims the device will also retain its 200MP primary camera sensor, with no clear indication of any major hardware changes.
Galaxy S26 Ultra may reuse the S25 Ultra’s 200MB main camera
According to a new report from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely retain the same 200MP primary camera sensor as its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While it’s still unclear whether Samsung plans to introduce a new version of the sensor or simply reuse the existing one, the possibility of no upgrade to the main sensor could disappoint those expecting a significant leap in camera hardware.
Samsung has been taking a cautious approach to hardware upgrades in recent years. Its Ultra flagships have had a 5,000mAh battery since the S20 Ultra in 2020. The 45W wired charging speed has also remained unchanged for the past six generations, while competitors have already surpassed 100W and beyond. The story is similar on the camera front, where Samsung hasn’t made major hardware leaps in years, allowing rivals to catch up — and in some cases, surpass it.
Now, the latest reports about the Galaxy S26 Ultra suggest Samsung is once again focusing more on refining the Ultra experience rather than reinventing it. Software enhancements, AI optimizations, and efficiency upgrades mean the new Ultra can still deliver a longer battery life and improved camera performance. However, hardware upgrades coupled with these enhancements would produce much better results. Or maybe Samsung still has some surprises in store; we shall find out in the coming months.
