Galaxy S26 Ultra Appears on FCC, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Confirmed

As we inch closer to the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, more details are coming out of the oven. In that vein, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has just passed FCC certification, revealing its key specifications. If you have been following the news, the revelations will not come as a surprise. But this is the closest thing yet to official confirmation.

As spotted by the folks over at The Tech Outlook, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has received FCC certification. Four models carrying the model numbers: SM-S948B/DS, SM-S948B, SM-S948U, and SM-S948U1 were listed in the certification database.

Keen-eyed Samsung users will notice the pattern this reveals. The B model refers to the international variant, while U and U1 refer to the unlocked and carrier-locked units for the US, respectively. 

The certification also reveals support for all popular network bands, 6 GHz Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth, NFC, wireless reverse charging, and UWB. This is pretty much what you would expect, but it is still important to note these details. One of the more significant relief is the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset (SM8850).

Although Samsung has not announced any dates yet for its next Galaxy Unpacked event, rumors suggest that the company remains right on schedule. This means we may not have to wait long for the Galaxy S26 series after all, though things can always change at the last moment.

Based on the latest leaks, the company could begin shipping the Galaxy S26 lineup in February. This suggests that the Galaxy S26 series may break cover in early 2026.
