Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S26 series at higher prices than the 2025 models. While the hike may not apply uniformly across every region, most markets are likely to see a bump driven by rising component costs, particularly memory. The pressure appears significant enough that even TM Roh, who previously stepped in to prevent a price hike, may be unable to hold the line this time.

Even Samsung’s mobile boss can’t stop a price hike for Galaxy S26

According to a fresh report from Korea, Samsung had originally intended to raise prices for last year’s Galaxy S25 series compared to the Galaxy S24 lineup. However, TM Roh, the company’s head of mobile division, reportedly intervened at the last minute and pushed for a flat pricing strategy instead. Unfortunately, he may not be able to pull off something similar this year.

Rising manufacturing costs are putting more pressure on Samsung’s pricing strategy for the Galaxy S26 series. With DRAM and NAND costs climbing, the company may not be able to absorb the additional expenses this time around. Even TM Roh may not be able to prevent a price increase for the upcoming flagship lineup.

The Korean media adds that Roh is concerned about a potential competitive imbalance against arch-rival Apple. The latter allegedly plans to launch the iPhone 18 series at the same prices as the iPhone 17 lineup. If that happens, it could create a perception challenge in key markets. It remains to be seen how Samsung handles it all.

However, for prospective Galaxy S26 buyers, a price hike looks inevitable in most markets. Samsung will officially introduce the new flagships on February 25. Pre-orders should begin immediately after launch, with general sales expected in the second week of March. Stay tuned for more.
