Galaxy S26 Gets Huge RAM Upgrade, But Still Not Samsung’s Latest LPDDR6

Last week, Samsung announced its next-generation low-power RAM, LPDDR6, for future mobile devices. However, the company may not integrate this memory into its upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The good news is that the 2026 flagship lineup may use an advanced version of LPDDR5X, bringing faster data speeds similar to LPDDR6.

Galaxy S26 may feature faster LPDDR5X memory, matching LPDDR6 speeds

Alongside a powerful chipset, RAM also plays a key role in delivering solid performance in a smartphone. The upcoming Galaxy S26 and S26+ may feature Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chip, depending on the market, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra may come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip globally. However, in terms of RAM, Samsung may still stick to LPDDR5X, just like the Galaxy S25 series, but with an important upgrade in speed.

According to tipster @UniverseIce, all models of the Galaxy S26 series may use LPDDR5X 10.7Gbps memory. The tipster also said that the company has already begun mass production of this RAM, starting with the 12GB version. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 series uses LPDDR5X running at 8.5Gbps, which means the S26 will offer a substantial boost in memory speed and bandwidth.

What’s interesting is that the latest LPDDR6 also supports data rates of up to 10.7Gbps, the same speed as the upgraded LPDDR5X in the Galaxy S26 series. As such, in terms of raw memory speed, the S26 may perform on par with devices using the latest LPDDR6. While LPDDR6 brings additional benefits like improved energy efficiency and enhanced security, the advanced LPDDR5X may still deliver performance boosts in key areas of the device.

For example, the faster LPDDR5X memory will directly benefit the Galaxy S26’s camera system, according to the same tipster. Multi-frame HDR shots may be processed up to 25% quicker, while low-light photography will see reduced noise and improved detail. Beyond photography, the upgraded RAM may help apps launch faster while making multitasking smoother. Likewise, we may experience less lag while using AI-driven applications.
