AirDrop Support May Arrive on Galaxy S26 Later This Month

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup doesn’t support Apple’s AirDrop through Quick Share out of the box, but the feature may go live soon. If ongoing developments are any indication, the feature may arrive through a software update later this month. It would address one of the biggest interoperability issues between Galaxy phones and iPhones.
SammyGuru’s Mystery Box program is now available for Galaxy S26 Ultra pre-orders on Best Buy. You can score a free 65W charger and more acccessories at no extra cost with every eligible pre-order. Slots are filling dast — hurry now.
Galaxy S26 may gain AirDrop support via an update this month
The possibility of AirDrop interoperability on Samsung devices first emerged after Google rolled out cross-platform file sharing on Pixel phones. The feature allows Pixels to send files directly to Apple iPhones without needing third-party apps. Samsung was widely expected to offer this feature on the Galaxy S26 series, but it isn’t available from day one.
However, a new announcement from OPPO at MWC 2026 suggests that the broader Android ecosystem is preparing to roll out this functionality soon. The company confirmed that the feature will roll out to some of its devices in March 2026 (via 9to5Google). Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup is likely to pick up AirDrop support at the same time.
Once implemented, the update would allow Galaxy users to send photos, videos, and files directly to Apple devices through Quick Share, something that traditionally required messaging apps, cloud services, or third-party tools.
While Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the rollout timeline yet, the growing momentum across the Android ecosystem suggests that cross-platform file sharing may soon become much easier. We will keep a close eye on these developments and let you know when we have more to share with you.
