Samsung is widely expected to launch One UI 8.5 Beta for the Galaxy S25 series today. While we wait for it, the company has started rolling out the latest security patch to more devices. The December 2025 security update is now available for the Galaxy S25 lineup, Fold 7, and Flip 7. The rollout begins in South Korea, with additional markets likely to join in the coming days.
December 2025 security update hits Galaxy S25, Fold 7, and Flip 7
The Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge are all receiving this month’s security fixes in Korea, where users get the new firmware with the build version BYKG. The exact update size varies depending on the model, but expect the OTA package to weigh under 600MB. Alongside the latest patches, Samsung may have optimized the software ahead of One UI 8.5 Beta. The update itself doesn’t bring any new features, though.
As for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, this firmware release carries the build version AYKE. It’s unclear if Samsung will launch One UI 8.5 Beta for the foldable duo. Of course, the stable version will arrive sometime in the first half of 2026. Shipped with One UI 8, it will be the first major feature update for these foldables. The OTA package weighs about 600MB for the Fold model.
The December 2025 security update for the Galaxy S25, Fold 7, and Flip 7 should soon expand to global markets. It includes fixes for nearly 70 vulnerabilities, 11 of which focus on One UI-specific issues, while the rest are Android OS patches from Google. Users can check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in One UI 8.5 Beta, keep an eye on the Beta page in the Samsung Members app. Note that the beta program may not be available globally. While we do not have an official list yet, the program could be limited to South Korea, India, Germany, Poland, the UK, and the US. Stay tuned for the official release.
