Galaxy S25 FE May Match Flagship Models with 12MP Selfie Camera

Samsung’s next Fan Edition smartphone may bring a much-needed camera upgrade, at least on the front. According to a new report, the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE may sport a 12MP selfie camera, possibly the same unit as the rest of the S25 lineup. The previous two FE models, the Galaxy S24 FE and S23 FE, featured a 10MP front camera.

Galaxy S25 FE to get a selfie camera upgrade

The folks over at GalaxyClub have learned that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S25 FE with a 12MP front camera. This change would bring the Fan Edition model in line with the whole lineup, including the newly launched S25 Edge, as well as the S25 Ultra. With this upgrade, you can expect better selfie photos and videos.

Well, that’s if the Galaxy S25 FE uses the same front sensor as its flagship counterparts. As of this writing, we do not have concrete evidence suggesting it’s the same sensor. Samsung is unlikely to downgrade the camera from the aging 10MP unit, though. All in all, the next FE phone could deliver noticeably better selfies, especially with improved image processing expected from One UI and the latest hardware.

On the back, however, Samsung isn’t expected to make any big changes. The Galaxy S25 FE will likely stick with the same 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP zoom camera setup used on its predecessors. While it’s a capable system, some fans may be hoping for improvements in low-light or zoom performance. After all, the FE lineup is often called the “affordable flagship.”

While the 50MP main camera is the same as the S25 and S25+, the ultrawide and zoom shooters lag behind their flagship counterparts. We understand Samsung needs to cut corners to make the FE model more affordable, but these cameras need an upgrade.

A MediaTek chip could power this phone

Speaking of cutting corners, Samsung may switch to a MediaTek chipset for the Galaxy S25 FE. The device is rumored to feature the Dimensity 9400, at least in select markets. This is likely because of Samsung Foundry’s ongoing troubles affecting the yield and performance of Exynos processors. And Samsung certainly can’t use a Snapdragon chip, as those are more expensive than Dimensity.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S25 FE in Q4 2025, likely around September or October. The company may also debut its first Galaxy Z Flip FE — a more affordable foldable — around the same time. We will keep you posted.
