Galaxy S22, S23 FE & Tab A7 Lite Receive May Update Widely in the US

Samsung’s May security update is now widely available for the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy Tab A7 Lite in the US. This update brings a host of vulnerability fixes to these devices. The company has already updated dozens of other smartphones and tablets to last month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release).
May update available for more Galaxy S22, S23 FE, and Tab A7 users in the US
The latest update for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in the US carries firmware version FYE4 (last four characters of the build number). That for the Galaxy S23 FE is DYE2, and the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is EYE2. The update is rolling out to carrier-locked and unlocked variants across multiple networks. It should be available nationwide for all variants in the coming days.
As you might expect, this software release for the Galaxy S22, S23 FE, and Tab A7 is focused primarily on improving device security. It patches dozens of vulnerabilities found in previous versions, enhancing the overall system protection. Samsung’s updated security bulletin for May 2025 mentions fixes for nearly 80 vulnerabilities across the Android OS and One UI.
While no new features or performance improvements are included, some bug fixes related to the recent One UI 7 update might be part of this release. Note that the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite isn’t eligible for One UI 7. The Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S23 FE, meanwhile, will also get One UI 8. The Android 16-based OS upgrade should be available for these devices before the end of 2025.
If you’re using any of these devices in the US, it’s a good time to update your device to ensure it stays protected. To check for the May 2025 update manually, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once downloaded, tap Install now. Your phone will restart after the installation is complete.
