Samsung is preparing to roll out the Android 15-based One UI 7 to the more Galaxy phones. That will most likely happen next month, i.e. May. But a recent virtual demo suggests that the Galaxy S22 series may not receive the full set of new features, particularly those powered by Galaxy AI, even with the One UI 7 update.
Someone’s running One UI 7 on Galaxy S22+ via Remote Test Lab
A Reddit user Direct-Till-2680 showcased One UI 7 running on a Galaxy S22+ via Samsung’s Remote Test Lab. For those unaware, it’s a tool that lets developers test software on virtual devices. The demo reveals that while the S22 series will receive the UI refresh and several cosmetic changes, most of the new Galaxy AI features introduced with the Galaxy S25 series are missing.
Among the absent features are Audio Eraser, which can remove background noise from videos, and Drawing Assist, which received a redesign and generative styles in One UI 7. The much-hyped Now Brief and a fully functional Now Bar also appear to be reserved for Samsung’s latest flagships. On the S22+, the Now Bar is limited to simple media playback controls. That’s not surprising, but it sure looks like it.

The performance seen in Remote Test Lab is somewhat laggy and glitchy, but let me tell you, that’s typical due to the limitations of a virtual environment. It’s not reflective of the final software quality. When One UI 7 finally releases for the Galaxy S22 series in May (most likely), you may see better performance.

Despite the absence of Galaxy AI features, the Galaxy S22 series will still benefit from One UI 7’s refreshed design. The update brings updated app icon colors, improved UI animations, and intelligent touches like Live Notifications. However, some of these features may offer limited functionality on older hardware. So if you own a Galaxy S22 series phone, you may be getting a visual revamp, not the AI leap.
