Galaxy S21 FE Could Get One UI 8.5 Despite Customer Support Claim

Recent chatter has stirred concern among Galaxy S21 FE users after a Samsung customer service agent claimed that the device won’t receive the One UI 8.5 update. Naturally, that response has raised eyebrows, but it shouldn’t be taken as definitive. While we can’t say with absolute certainty that the S21 FE will get One UI 8.5, there’s still plenty of reason for users to stay optimistic.
Customer support responses aren’t always definitive
It’s important to remember that frontline customer service agents often rely on limited internal documentation. They may not have access to finalized software rollout plans, especially when an update hasn’t even been officially announced yet. As such, the response provided to @spatni1995 may not be accurate, and the Galaxy S21 FE may still receive One UI 8.5.
But that’s not the whole story. Samsung’s update strategy has been fairly consistent over the years. If a device is eligible for a major Android version, it typically receives all subsequent One UI refinements built on that same Android base. Since the Galaxy S21 FE picked up One UI 8, it’s highly likely to make the jump to One UI 8.5 as well. That’s been the pattern, and we see no reason for Samsung to change it.
It’s true that no One UI 8.5 test builds have surfaced for the S21 FE on internal firmware servers yet. But that alone doesn’t prove exclusion. This update hasn’t officially rolled out to any Galaxy device yet. Samsung is still working on it, with a wider public rollout unlikely before the end of March. Several other eligible models also haven’t appeared in internal test listings.
Considering all this, the Galaxy S21 FE should receive One UI 8.5. The device could simply be scheduled for a later rollout phase. It wouldn’t be surprising if it ends up among the last devices in its generation to receive the update. It would actually be surprising if the device misses out on One UI 8.5. We will keep an eye on the ongoing developments and let you know when we have more information.
