Galaxy S21 FE, A55, A36, and M35 Get July 2025 Security Update

Samsung continues to expand its July 2025 security patch rollout, bringing improved protection and performance to a growing list of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The latest security update has now hit the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A55, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy M35. More models should join the party in the coming days.
Samsung treats more Galaxy devices with the July 2025 security update
These monthly security updates enhance system security and stability while addressing several under-the-hood vulnerabilities. According to Samsung’s security bulletin for the July 2025 release, Galaxy devices are getting key fixes across Knox security, Galaxy Watch system interface, Samsung Account integration, Wi-Fi password handling, Bluetooth connectivity, and Emergency SOS features.
In total, this month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) contains fixes for 40 vulnerabilities, including one critical Android OS flaw. Samsung has already updated all recent flagship models to the new security patch. It is now gradually covering the remaining ones as it continues to work on One UI 8 behind the scenes. Based on Android 16, One UI 8 is currently available in beta for the Galaxy S25 lineup.
For Galaxy A55 users, the update arrives with build version A556BXXS9BYF3, currently live in Europe. The Galaxy A36 is receiving build A366USQS3AYG1, beginning with US variants. The Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy M35 are receiving the July 2025 security update in India and select other markets. Their new firmware build numbers are G990EXXSGGYG1 and M356BXXS5BYG1, respectively.
All four devices are currently running Android 15 with One UI 7, but Samsung has already started internal testing of One UI 8 for them. Once the stable One UI 8 build goes live for the Galaxy S25 series — likely in early August — more Galaxy phones will gradually join the rollout. We will keep you posted. Meanwhile, you can manually check for updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install.
