Samsung rolled out the January 2026 security patch to several new Galaxy phones last week, and the update has now expanded to more models. The latest devices to join the rollout include the Galaxy M06, Galaxy F06, Galaxy M36, and Galaxy Tab Active 5.

Galaxy M06, F06, M36, and Tab Active 5 pick up January 2026 security patch update

The Galaxy M06 5G and Galaxy F06 5G have started receiving the January 2026 security update in India. The Galaxy M06 5G runs build version M066BXXS4BZA1, while the Galaxy F06 5G carries E066BXXS4BZA1. The update size on the Galaxy M06 is slightly under 300MB (h/t: Varun Polisetty).

Samsung has also expanded the update to the Galaxy Jump 4, popularly known as the Galaxy M36. The device recently picked up the January 2026 security patch in South Korea, carrying the build version M366KKSS4BZA1.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 is another addition to the rollout. The tablet has received the January 2026 patch in India, Europe, Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and a few other markets. The update comes with build version X306BXXS9CZA3.

The January 2026 security patch does not add new features. It mainly focuses on improving system security and stability. The update fixes 55 security vulnerabilities identified by Samsung, Google, and other partners.

All the devices mentioned above have already appeared with One UI 8.5 test builds on Samsung’s servers in many regions. While this does not confirm an immediate release, it shows that Samsung is actively working on the update. The stable rollout is expected to begin by the end of next month, starting with a few flagships.

If you own any of the devices mentioned above, you can check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. After the download finishes, tap Install now to install the package. Make sure device has enough charge and is not overheating before proceeding with the installation.
