Galaxy Buds Core (aka Buds FE 2) Leak Reveals a Battery Boost

by | May 12, 2025 | Galaxy Buds, News

In 2023, Samsung introduced its first pair of Fan Edition wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds FE. Now, the Korean firm is gearing up to launch its successor, but there’s a catch — it may call them Galaxy Buds Core instead of the usual Galaxy Buds FE 2. A certification listing recently revealed the battery capacities of the upcoming budget-friendly earbuds and their charging case, revealing bigger batteries.

Galaxy Buds Core may have bigger batteries

Folks over at 91Mobiles recently spotted two model numbers of an upcoming Samsung Bluetooth headset, SM-R410 and ER-QR410, on the Nemko (national approval of electrical equipment in Norway) platform. These model numbers have long been linked with the Galaxy Buds Core — the former for the earbuds and the latter for their charging case.

The listing reveals a 200mAh battery for the eabuds and a 500mAh battery for the charging case. We can assume that each earbud may have a 100mAh battery. If true, Galaxy Buds Core will have bigger batteries than the first-generation Fan Edition wireless earbuds.

The original models offer a 479mAh battery in the case, while the buds themselves pack a 60mAh battery each. According to Samsung, you can get up to 6 hours of playtime with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) enabled or 8.5 hours with ANC off. And with the charging case, you can get an impressive 21 hours of playtime with ANC or 30 hours without ANC. So, if Samsung has no intention of downgrading the chipset in the upcoming Galaxy Buds Core, we can expect an extended battery life by several hours.

Apart from revealing battery capacity, the NEMKO certifications did not reveal any other key details, but one thing they hint that Galaxy Buds Core’s launch is nearing. On top of that, a few weeks ago, the upcoming pair of affordable wireless earbuds cleared India’s BIS and the US’s FCC certification processes. Both are important regulatory milestones that usually suggest a product is close to its official debut.
