Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro bring serious audio credentials. Both models support ultra-high quality (UHQ) audio and 24-bit/96kHz Hi-Fi playback, features that will immediately catch the attention of audiophiles. However, as expected, these features aren’t universally available across every device you pair them with. UHQ Audio on Galaxy Buds 4 requires specific devices

Samsung has confirmed that UHQ audio works only when you pair the Galaxy Buds 4 or Buds 4 Pro with select Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1.1 or newer. Supported models include:

• Galaxy S26, S25, S24, S23 series
• Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7
• Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6
• Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5
• Galaxy Z TriFold
• Galaxy Tab S9 series

Samsung notes that compatibility could expand in the future, but for now, these are the only devices that can unlock the true potential of the new Galaxy Buds. Of course, the streaming platform also needs to provide higher bitrate audio for the buds to actually relay that to you. Spotify and YouTube do not offer true high-resolution audio streams, but Tidal and Amazon Music do.

The Galaxy Buds 4 series supports 24-bit/96kHz ultra-high quality audio playback via Samsung’s proprietary SSC (Samsung Seamless Codec). They also boast 360-degree audio and direct multi-channel audio support for a more immersive listening experience.
