Samsung Launches Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro with Key Improvements

Alongside the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro at Unpacked. Like the previous-gen models, the base Buds 4 feature an open-type design without ear tips, aimed at users who prefer a lighter, more breathable fit. The Buds 4 Pro, meanwhile, use silicone ear tips for deeper isolation and enhanced active noise cancellation. Here’s everything you need to know about these buds.
Galaxy Buds 4 saw a data-driven redesign
According to Samsung, the design journey for the Galaxy Buds 4 series started with an ambitious goal: create earbuds that feel natural for all-day use. The company claims to have used 40 different scanners and AI systems to analyze millions of ear shape data points from around the world. It allegedly ran more than 10,000 simulations to finalize the new “blade” design.
The Buds 4 offer a sleeker metal stem with a refined ergonomic curve that hugs the ear more securely. The control area is subtly engraved into the blade, making touch gestures more precise. You can swipe up or down to change volume, tap once to play or answer a call, double-tap to skip, and triple-tap to go back.
The hold and pinch gesture can be used to toggle ANC modes or launch certain apps or functions. You can even nod your head to answer a call or shake it to decline.
Inside the Buds 4 series is a new two-way speaker system. The woofer is 20% larger and engineered to reduce distortion by 50%, delivering deeper bass without muddiness. A dedicated planar tweeter handles the high frequencies, adding clarity and detail that’s often missing in compact earbuds.
With Samsung Seamless Codec on Galaxy devices, these buds support 24-bit resolution at a 96kHz sample rate. High-resolution audio works across all music apps on Galaxy devices, and auto-switch lets you move seamlessly between Galaxy products signed into the same Samsung account.
Noise cancellation has also evolved. Adaptive ANC 2.0 processes your environment in real time, adjusting automatically as conditions change. If a siren or emergency sound is detected, Auto-Ambient Mode kicks in, allowing you to stay aware without manually switching modes. Adaptive EQ further personalizes the sound, fine-tuning frequencies based on how the earbuds sit in your ears.
Enhanced calling experience, improved AI functions
With HD Voice support, machine-learning noise reduction, and a dedicated Voice Pickup Unit (VPU), the Galaxy Buds 4 series doubles voice bandwidth to 16kHz, compared to the standard 8kHz found in many earbuds. The result is clearer, more natural-sounding conversations. The feature also works with third-party calling apps that support HD voice. Both models support Bluetooth v6.1.
AI features go even further. You can trigger Bixby or Google Assistant hands-free, even when your phone is locked. Live Translate supports 22 languages and delivers real-time translations directly into your ears. Gaming Mode reduces latency for smoother audio, while integration with SmartThings lets you control compatible smart home devices through voice commands.
The Galaxy Buds 4 weigh 4.6 grams each and pack a 45mAh battery. Its case weighs 45.1 grams and includes a 515mAh battery. Samsung claims 5 hours of playtime with ANC on (6 hours off), and up to 30 hours with the case, depending on usage.
At 5.1 grams, the Buds 4 Pro are slightly heavier, but their case weighs a little less at 44.3 grams. Their battery capacities are 61mAh and 530mAh, respectively. These buds offer up to 6 hours of playback with ANC on (7 hours with it off), extending to 26 hours with the case. Both models support wireless charging.
Samsung has also revamped the charging case. It features a transparent clamshell lid and stronger magnets that make placing and picking up the buds easier and more satisfying. While the Buds 4 are IP54-rated for dust and water resistance, the Buds 4 Pro boast stronger protection with an IP57 rating.
Note: Certain advanced features are only available on the Pro model.
