After the Galaxy A36 and A26, Samsung has released the first software update for the Galaxy A56. The new premium midrange smartphone is picking up the latest April security patch. The rollout began recently, so it could take a while for everyone to get the update.
Galaxy A56 receives its first software update with the April security patch
Samsung launched the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 last month with One UI 7 out of the box. It recently pushed the April security update to the latter two. The former model, which is the most feature-packed Samsung midranger of the year, is now joining the party, starting in Thailand. It should receive the April update globally in the coming weeks — Samsung has yet to launch the Galaxy A56 in the US.
The first update for the Galaxy A56 comes with the firmware build number A566BXXS2AYD3. The official changelog says the phone is getting system stability and reliability improvements alongside this month’s security fixes. The April SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy family contains over 60 patches, including a few critical vulnerabilities.
Samsung will push this update to more Galaxy devices as it expands the rollout to additional markets for the A55. Some models, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6, will receive the latest security patch bundled with the One UI 7 update. Most other devices aren’t scheduled to get One UI 7 this month, so expect a standalone security patch soon.
The Galaxy A36 and A56 support seamless updates, but the Galaxy A26 misses out on it. This feature improves the installation process of software updates, reducing the total downtime. All three models are eligible for six years of Android OS (One UI) updates and security patches. The first would be Android 16-based One UI 8, set to arrive later this year.
