Samsung has begun rolling out the May 2025 security update for the Galaxy A56. The update includes a new AI feature powered by One UI 7, along with the latest security patch.

What’s new with the May 2025 security update on the Galaxy A56 is that they now get the ability to use the side key to quickly launch Gemini. This feature was previously only available on the latest Galaxy S25 series, but it’s now making its way to even the A series. Users can now press and hold the side key on Galaxy A56 to launch Gemini. If you don’t prefer Gemini, you can also customize the key to open either Gemini or Bixby.

The update also brings cross-app functionality with Gemini. Users can now ask Gemini to perform tasks across Samsung apps like Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock. For example, you can ask Gemini to save a YouTube video summary in Notes or add sports game dates to your Calendar with just one command.

The Galaxy A56 May 2025 security update comes with firmware version A566BXXU3AYDK. It follows shortly after Samsung began rolling out the May 2025 update for the Galaxy S25 series in the US. To install the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and has enough charge before updating.

That said, a report earlier today also claimed that Samsung may be cooking up a major update slated for next month. According to the report, the June 2025 security update for the Galaxy S25 series will bring major changes. We don’t know what those changes could be yet, but it certainly looks like something big is coming.

Thanks for the tip, @Alfaturk16!
