Galaxy A55 and A54’s One UI 8 Beta Release Edges Closer, A56 Misses Out

Samsung is gearing up to expand its Android 16-based One UI 8 beta program to more Galaxy devices. The company has already announced beta updates for several additional models, though it hasn’t shared when the rollout will begin. Meanwhile, a fresh development suggests the Galaxy A55 and A54 could get beta soon. One UI 8 beta firmware for these devices has just surfaced on Samsung’s servers.
Samsung readies the One UI 8 beta update for the Galaxy A55 and A54
Earlier this month, Samsung announced a big expansion of its One UI 8 beta program beyond the Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 recently picked up their first beta updates in the US, the UK, India, and South Korea. The Galaxy S23, Fold 5, Flip 5, Tab S10, Galaxy A55, A54, A36, and A35 are the other devices confirmed eligible for beta testing.
While we are still awaiting concrete information on when Samsung may kick off beta programs for these models, the first One UI 8 beta firmware for the Galaxy A55 and A54 has appeared on Samsung’s servers. The current internal test firmware carries the build version ZYH4 for both models. This discovery suggests that the Korean firm is preparing to release the beta update for the premium mid-range duo.
As you may have noticed, Samsung has left out its latest and most powerful mid-ranger, the Galaxy A56, from the One UI 8 beta program, even though the more affordable Galaxy A36 is eligible. This is likely because of the former’s delayed launch in the US. While both models made their international debut in March, the Galaxy A56 only arrived stateside in July.
Despite missing the beta boat, the Galaxy A56 should be one of the first A-series smartphones to make the jump to One UI 8. The stable rollout is scheduled to begin next month, though we may not see a wide release until October. We will let you know when Samsung kicks off the next phase of its beta program.
