Galaxy A34 Update Causes Netflix Video Streaming Issues

Are you facing video distortion or low-quality playback while watching Netflix on your Galaxy A34? Well, you’re not alone. Many other Galaxy A34 users have reported a weird video streaming bug after installing a recent software update. The issue triggers when users connect a USB Type-C headphone or an adapter.

Earlier this month, Samsung began rolling out the December 2025 security update to the Galaxy A34 in phases. Users can check for updates by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The patch brings a bunch of security fixes and system improvements. However, it also appears to carry an unexpected bug.
According to SamMobile, some Galaxy A34 users are facing video streaming problems after installing a recent security update. The users are mainly from Latin American regions, including Brazil. Note that Samsung also released the November 2025 security update for the phone last month. Since the publication did not clearly specify which update caused the issue, it remains unclear whether the bug is part of the November or December security patch.
Anyway, affected A34 users say that video playback becomes distorted while using a USB Type-C headphone or adapter. The issue shows up on several video streaming platforms, including Netflix. It could be related to Google’s Widevine Digital Rights Management (DRM) system. When the phone fails the Widevine L1 security check, it falls back to Widevine L3. As a result, the app limits video playback to SD resolution instead of HD or Full HD.
Earlier, a similar Widevine issue was reported on GitHub for MediaTek-powered devices. Since the Galaxy A34 uses a MediaTek chipset, the problem could be linked to how the processor runs DRM security for routing audio through the USB Type-C port. This suggests the issue is likely software-related rather than a hardware defect. Hopefully, Samsung is aware of the issue and will release a fix soon.
