Galaxy A17 5G Shows Up on Geekbench as Launch Draws Closer

Now that we’ve seen Samsung’s new foldables and smartwatches, the company is gearing up for more launches soon. One of the next phones to surface is the Galaxy A17 5G, which has now appeared on Geekbench. It comes nearly a week after the phone’s official support pages surfaced.
Galaxy A17 5G hits Geekbench with Exynos 1380 chipset
First spotted by Abhishek Yadav on X, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A17 5G made a surprise appearance on Geekbench. As you might expect, the listing reveals a bunch of details, some of which may not sit well with fans. According to the listing, the Galaxy A17 5G will pack Exynos 1380 chipset. That’s the same one used in the Galaxy A14 5G and Galaxy A16 5G.

The chipset in question features an octa-core CPU with two high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. For graphics, it relies on the Mali-G68 GPU.
On Geekbench, the phone scored 942 points in the single-core test and 2,137 points in the multi-core test. It is likely to come with 6GB of RAM. While the listing shows it’s running Android 15-based One UI 7, there is also a chance Samsung will ship the phone with One UI 8. That is a fair assumption given how Samsung released devices running One UI 7 even before the update rolled out to flagship phones earlier this year. Either way, the phone is expected to receive six years of major Android updates.
One of the biggest upgrades for the Galaxy A17 5G is its camera. For the first time in Samsung’s budget A1x series, the phone is expected to feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on its 50-megapixel main camera. OIS helps reduce blurry photos and shaky videos, which is a big win for an affordable device.
Other details remain under wraps. But the Galaxy A17 5G will likely retain the large AMOLED screen and 5,000mAh battery.
