Samsung has finally rolled out the 5G variant of its entry-level Galaxy A17 in the US, starting at the familiar $199 price point. That makes it the newest and most affordable 5G Galaxy phone available in the country. The US launch comes several months after the device debuted in other markets.

Galaxy A17 5G arrives in the US as Samsung’s cheapest 5G option

Spec-wise, the Galaxy A17 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It also gets Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 5 for added protection. Under the hood, it gets the Exynos 1330, paired with 4GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. There’s also support for microSD cards up to 2TB.

Samsung doesn’t explicitly mention the Android version, but it’s expected to run Android 16-based One UI 8, along with six generations of promised updates. On the camera front, it’s equipped with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. Up front, there’s a 13MP selfie camera.

The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W Super Fast Charging, which Samsung claims can charge it up to 50 percent in 30 minutes. It’s also IP54-rated for improved durability. It will be available in Black, Blue, and Gray. All of which makes it a solid package for the asking price.

The Galaxy A17 5G will go on sale in the US starting January 7. It’ll be available through AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Verizon, and Samsung Experience Stores. You can also purchase carrier-locked or unlocked models directly from Samsung’s website once it’s available.
