Galaxy A17 5G Launched in Another Market with Charger in the Box

Samsung has launched the Galaxy A17 5G in one more market, India. Positioned as an affordable 5G option in the Galaxy lineup, the phone brings a more durable design and an improved primary camera compared to last year’s A16 5G. Perhaps most surprisingly, it also revives something Samsung had phased out — a charger in the box.

Galaxy A17 5G: Full specs and features

The Galaxy A17 5G is built around a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It features a plastic frame and back, but offers added durability with an IP54 rating against dust and splashes. Powering the phone is Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset, paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, expandable via microSD card.

Cameras include a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera on the back. The phone features a 13MP selfie shooter, capable of producing 1080p videos at 30fps. A 5,000mAh battery supports 25W fast charging. And unlike most recent Galaxy launches, the Galaxy A17 5G comes bundled with a 25W USB-C charger in the box.

This decision, which we confirmed a few days ago, will likely please buyers who have been disappointed with Samsung’s no-charger policy in recent years. While it remains unclear if the company will extend this move to other models, the inclusion on a budget-friendly device is a notable shift. Note that the Galaxy A17 5G is still missing a bundled charger in most markets.

This phone ships with Android 15 and One UI 7, so no One UI 8 out of the box. Samsung promises an impressive six major Android OS upgrades (up to Android 21) along with six years of security updates. Other key specs include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Samsung is offering the Galaxy A17 5G in three configurations in India, priced as follows:

• 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: ₹18,999 (approx. $215)
• 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: ₹20,499 (approx. $232)
• 8GB RAM + 256GB storage: ₹23,499 (approx. $266)
