Samsung has reportedly begun mass production of the Exynos 2600, its first 2nm chipset. The new processor will debut in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, set to launch in early 2026. However, contrary to earlier speculation, its adoption may be limited to the standard Galaxy S26 Pro model. The S26 Edge and S26 Ultra could run the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 globally.

Exynos 2600 may be limited to the standard Galaxy S26 Pro

According to a report from TheBell (via @Jukanlosreve), Samsung has adjusted its strategy. While previous rumors suggested both the Galaxy S26 Pro and Edge models — and possibly even the Ultra — would use the Exynos 2600 in most regions, the latest information points to a narrower scope. Only the base model will feature the new Exynos chip. Moreover, it may be limited to select markets, including Europe.

This shift indicates that Samsung is approaching the rollout of its 2nm chip with caution, prioritizing stability and controlled deployment. Its Exynos chips have lost the competitive edge in recent years, and the company can’t afford another misstep. A cautious approach might be the best way forward for Samsung.

The Exynos 2600 leverages Samsung’s SF2 2nm process with 3rd-generation Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology. Compared to its 3nm node (SF3), the new process delivers 12% higher performance and 25% greater power efficiency. The chip will showcase the company’s competitiveness in cutting-edge foundry technology.

Industry insiders suggest the Exynos 2600 is showing strong performance in early testing, giving Samsung confidence in its yield improvements. In Q1 2025, yields for the 2nm process hovered around 30%, but they have reportedly risen to about 50%. This is a crucial improvement after the setback with the Exynos 2500, which failed to appear in the Galaxy S25.

If the Exynos 2600 proves successful in the Galaxy S26 Pro, Samsung could gradually expand its in-house chips to more models in future flagships. The new flagships will launch in January or February 2026, so expect more leaks and rumors shortly.
