February 2026 Google Play System Updates: What’s New?

Google continues to improve Android devices through its monthly Play system updates. The company recently detailed the February 2026 update that brings new features and improvements across different areas, like Google Play services and Google Play Store. The update should reach eligible Samsung Galaxy devices gradually in the coming weeks.

Here are the details of the Google Play system update for February 2026

As of this writing, Google has released notes for Google Play services versions 26.05 and 26.04, as well as Google Play Store version 50.1. These updates bring improvements for both regular users and developers, letting them experience the fresh enhancements to core system components.

Speaking of Play services version 26.05, the update allows you to control the transit data display on maps when available. The build also improves the Google Home setup experience thanks to dynamic, visual instructions for device preparation and factory resets. Meanwhile, Play services version 26.04 brings improvements to Google Account storage purchasing. Developers get new features to improve security, privacy, and Maps-related processes in apps. The update also simplifies the new device setup process, giving users a more intuitive experience.

On the Play Store front, version 50.1 focuses on keeping compatibility and security. This update no longer supports content publication from outdated EngageSDK versions. It applies to several platforms, including phones, TVs, Wear devices, and car systems.

Samsung Galaxy device users can check for the Play system updates by heading to Settings > Security and Privacy > Updates > Google Play System Update. The Google Play services version 26.07 update prevents simultaneous dialogs by coordinating Autofill with Google and Credential Manager.
