Samsung is wasting no time with One UI 8. Just a month after the One UI 7 stable rollout began, the company is already pushing ahead with its next big update. Earlier today, the first One UI 8 beta build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra surfaced on its servers, followed by reports that the public beta program could begin this month. In a new development, a few users installed this unreleased beta, offering an early glimpse at the upcoming update.
One UI 8 beta is close, here’s what Samsung has in store
It’s been a while since One UI 8 leaks started circulating. Based on those leaks, the upcoming major OS update for Galaxy devices appears to focus on refining existing features and enhancing the visual appeal of Samsung’s custom software. We have seen several feature enhancements, but hardly anything new. This early beta build installed by Sammobile confirms it all.
A video shared by the publication shows One UI 8 beta running on a Galaxy S25 Ultra (you can watch the video below). The only noticeable visual tweak is the wider implementation of a glass-like transparent background, i.e., blur effect, across more system menus and apps, such as the video resolution selector in the Camera app. This transparency effect was previously limited to a few apps like Gallery.
We can also see UI enhancements for some system apps, but if you’re hoping for major new features in One UI 8, this early look may temper your expectations. The current build appears more like a continuation of Samsung’s design refinement strategy from One UI 7, rather than a dramatic overhaul. Even Samsung DeX, which got some attention in the preview, looks largely unchanged.
Of course, the beta program hasn’t officially launched yet, so there’s still room for new features and improvements in future builds. But we doubt One UI 8 will be as big an update as One UI 7. Either way, with internal beta testing in full swing, the official One UI 8 beta rollout shouldn’t be too far off.
