December 2025 Google Play System Updates: What’s New?

Google has shared notes of its Play system updates for December 2025. As usual, it brings a suite of refinements to Play Services and Play Store, improving the overall Android experience. The company should start pushing the new update to all eligible Galaxy devices in the coming weeks.

Here are the details of the Google Play system update for December 2025

Version 25.48 of Google Play Services brings new tools for developers to improve account-related features in their apps. For phones and Wear OS devices, Google has refreshed the user interface themes for journeys related to supervision. In System Management, the company has added open-source license details for Pixel Audio services within GMS Core.

Furthermore, Google Wallet, a digital wallet app for Android, also gets a helpful update. The In-Person presentation now features an improved layout. Google has also introduced new developer features that support Digital Wallet and payments-related processes in its apps.

Meanwhile, Google Play Store version 49.2 brings several user-focused improvements. Notification Center now offers a more personalized and organized experience. A new verified badge has been introduced for users in India. This badge helps people identify brokerage apps that are registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The company has also updated the Play Store dialog so that its size now matches the latest Google Material 3 design.

As for Play Services version 25.47, the update improves device performance and stability. In version 49.1 of the Play Store, Google has added a new warning experience for apps that fail Play Protect verification. This could help users avoid harmful apps. Moreover, the update allows users to resume watching, reading, or listening to content from their installed apps right from the Play Store.

Play Services version 25.49 improves device connectivity by showing prompts to allow access for nearby devices. The update also brings new developer features to support Account Management-related processes in apps. Meanwhile, the Play Store version 49.3 brings an improved chat-style interface that works like a personal assistant. You can also manage personalization and data collection directly in the Play menu, deciding what data is saved to your Play History. Furthermore, the Play Store now shows personalized content from your installed travel apps.

Play Store version 49.5 now provides users in the EEA and the UK with more information to identify regulated medical device apps. As for Play Services version 25.50, it brings a host of improvements to account management. These include a custom account selection UI, an improved Android Parental Supervision setup, Play Store setup recommendations, and enhanced notifications for Advanced Protection features.

Google brings new developer tools to support Maps and Ads processes. The update lets users provide feedback on automatic time and time zone performance within settings. It also addresses several bugs for security and privacy-related services. Meanwhile, Play Store version 49.4 brings a feature to simplify installing system services.
