After flagships, Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 7 to its midrange devices, starting with the Galaxy A55. The 2024 premium midranger is picking up the stable build in South Korea. It should soon be available in other markets. Other midrange Galaxy devices should also receive One UI 7 in the coming days.
Galaxy A55 gets Samsung’s One UI 7 update with tons of new features
Over the past few weeks, Samsung has released three One UI 7 beta updates for the Galaxy A55 — it is the only non-flagship phone to get beta programs. The company has now started pushing the stable build, with Korean users getting it first. Users in India — the only other market outside Korea where beta updates were released for this phone — should get it soon, followed by the rest of the world.
The stable One UI 7 release for the Galaxy A55 bears the firmware version A556SKSU4BYD9 in Korea. Users in other markets may or may not get the same build, but the changes will remain the same. We are talking about Samsung’s Android 15 update with tons of new features, including AI enhancements.
While beta users will get a small OTA package that takes them to the stable build, Galaxy A55 users on One UI 6 will receive a massive update weighing several gigabytes. From UI changes and animation upgrades to new camera features, additional customization options, and new AI-driven experiences, One UI 7 has plenty on offer.
This is the first of four major Android OS updates for the Galaxy A55. While Samsung guarantees six generations of updates for its successor, the Galaxy A56 (which runs One UI 7 out of the box), this updated support policy doesn’t cover the 2024 model. The Korean firm may bring One UI 8 early, with the rollout likely beginning in the second half of this year.
