In a surprising move, Samsung has pushed out another One UI 8.5 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. The release wasn’t expected, but a fresh beta build is now rolling out to registered users in India, South Korea, and other regions. This marks the fifth beta update for the lineup.

One UI 8.5 Beta 5 is quite small, but it brings an important update

Carrying firmware version ZZAN, the latest One UI 8.5 beta update for the Galaxy S25 lineup is relatively small. It weighs just over 550MB for the Ultra model, which is substantially lighter than most previous beta builds. The changelog is just as brief, as Samsung only notes that Bixby has been updated. There are no additional feature changes or detailed bug-fix entries listed.

While Samsung may not go into details about the said Bixby update, it’s rolling out the Perplexity-integrated version. Instead of redirecting users to the web for anything outside of its scope, Bixby now uses Perplexity to answer all your queries. This partnership has been shaping up for a few months, and it’s finally public.

One UI 8.5 will be available out of the box on the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, including Perplexity-powered Bixby. Rumors suggest Samsung will even pre-install the Perplexity app on the new flagships. The company is betting big on AI, teaming up with several industry partners to enhance the everyday Galaxy experience. Google Gemini is already integrated across various system apps, and Nota AI may be added to the mix soon.

Alongside the Bixby upgrade, One UI 8.5 Beta 5 for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra may also contain a few minor bug fixes and optimizations. The update should soon be available to all registered users. Samsung’s latest beta program remains limited to the Galaxy S25 trio in India, South Korea, the US, the UK, Poland, and Germany.
