Benchmark Confirms Key Specs for Samsung’s XR Headset: Processor, RAM and More

Samsung is gearing up to launch its first Android XR headset later this year, and new details about the device have just surfaced, including its processor. Previously teased at events like the Galaxy S25 launch, MWC 2025, and Google I/O 2025, the headset (codenamed Project Moohan) has now appeared on Geekbench, confirming some key hardware specs.

Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 powers Samsung’s first XR Headset

The listing, spotted by @yabhishekhd, shows the headset under model number SM-I610 running on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor. This chip was unveiled by Qualcomm in early 2024 and is purpose-built for extended reality (XR) devices. It combines six CPU cores clocked at 2.36GHz and paired with the Adreno 740 GPU — the same graphics unit used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, found in many premium smartphones.

While the CPU scores — 990 in single-core and 2,453 in multi-core tests (Geekbench v6.4) — might not seem impressive compared to current flagship smartphones, it’s important to remember that XR devices prioritize GPU strength and sustained thermal performance over raw CPU speed. The chip uses Cortex-A78C cores, a design optimized for mixed workloads and extended use rather than peak mobile performance.

The benchmark listing also reveals that Samsung’s XR headset will feature 16GB of RAM and run Android 14 — more specifically, Android XR, which Google officially introduced at Google I/O 2025 a few days ago. This makes Samsung’s headset the first confirmed device to run the new OS tailored specifically for immersive experiences like AR, VR, and MR.

While Samsung hasn’t confirmed an exact release date, all signs point to a launch later in 2025. With Google backing Android XR and Qualcomm providing the hardware, Samsung is positioning itself as a major player in the next generation of spatial computing.
