All Three Galaxy S26 Models Feature a “New” 10MP 3x Zoom Camera

If recent reports are accurate, Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026. With mass production likely to begin soon, we can expect leaks to ramp up in the coming weeks. One area that has caused plenty of confusion so far is the 3x zoom camera. But a reliable tipster now claims that all three Galaxy S26 models, including the Ultra, will share the same new 10MP 3x sensor.

Galaxy S26 series to debut a new 10MP 3x camera

According to Ice Universe, the 3x telephoto module in the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra uses a 10MP ISOCELL sensor. Well, it’s a 12MP unit, but Samsung will only utilize 10MP of it, something the tipster has been claiming all along. The Sensor has an optical format of 1/3.94-inch, 1.0μmpixel size, f/2.4 aperture, and 36-degree field of view.

These specs may sound suspiciously similar to the 10MP 3x unit in the Galaxy S25 and S25+ (S25 Ultra has a 1/3.52-inch unit), but the sensor is reportedly new. A separate report says Samsung is replacing the aging ISOCELL S5K3K1 sensor with the new ISOCELL S5K3LD, though the effective resolution remains 10MP.

This suggests that Samsung may be focusing on sensor efficiency and image processing improvements rather than sheer pixel count. However, those hoping for a bigger 3x telephoto camera on the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be disappointed. Samsung is instead offering a smaller one. Hopefully, the updated hardware will deliver better results, particularly in low-light conditions.

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to debut in late January 2026, with a global release following in February. Based on these early camera details, it seems Samsung is opting for refinement over revolution. Will that translate to a noticeable boost in everyday photography performance? Only time will tell.
