After a lackluster 2024, Samsung isn’t putting the brakes on its plans for the Galaxy Flip 7 and Fold 7. While the company has scaled back its foldable shipments for 2025, it’s still on track to launch at least three foldables throughout the year. These include the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7, and the Galaxy Z Fold FE — a Fan Edition, which will be a more affordable option.

Samsung might not be planning major updates with Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7

In an interview with the Korean outlet The Elec, a Fastprint executive revealed some key figures — or rather, Samsung’s plans. They confirmed that Samsung intends to sell 6 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 combined. For some context, Fastprint is one of Samsung’s main suppliers, particularly for High-Density Interconnect (HDI) circuit boards, which Samsung primarily outsources.

The anticipated combined sales figure of 6 million units is notably lower compared to the 8 million units projected for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8. However, it aligns with previous reports. If the sales projections for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 are anything to go by, Samsung can expect modest growth for its 2025 lineup.

Bigger changes coming with Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8 instead

This brings us to the possibility of bigger changes for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead. What’s particularly interesting is that the report also highlights Samsung’s ambitious goal of selling 230 million smartphones in 2025.

As for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip FE, we already know a few details. For starters, both will feature the Exynos 2500 chipset under the hood. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 remains a bit of a mystery, but it’s likely to sport the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The reasoning is simple: the Z Fold lineup is essentially the Ultra of foldables. As for the Galaxy Z Flip, it will retain Galaxy Flip 6’s screen.
