Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE), a limited-edition phone hailed by many as the “dream” Galaxy foldable. Anticipation is building for the company to incorporate some of the SE’s standout features into next year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, enhancing its appeal. However, while a few elements might make their way to the global model, the much-talked-about 200MP camera may not be among them.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 may lack a 200MP camera

The Galaxy Z Fold SE is only available in China and South Korea. Samsung launched it as its answer to super slim Chinese foldables. It made the device bigger, thinner, and lighter, dropping S Pen support in the process. People, including us — we imported the device from Korea — liked the phone’s big and slim profile.

Unsurprisingly, everyone started calling on Samsung to copy some of the design elements and key features to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next year. Among those was a 200MP camera — the SE is the first Samsung foldable to sport this high-resolution camera. However, a rumor circulating on X suggests the company won’t make it global next year.

“The regular Fold coming out next year is not expected to have a 200MP camera,” tipster @Jukanlosreve posted on X. This likely means Samsung will keep the advanced camera limited to the SE. It is expected to launch a second-gen SE model alongside the Fold 7 in the second half of 2025. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip FE should accompany them.

A simultaneous launch suggests these foldables will be available globally. In that case, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 lacking a 200MP camera may not be a bad thing. It could keep the S Pen, so buyers can decide what they want more. Expect more leaks with additional details about Samsung’s 2025 foldables in the coming months.
