Galaxy S26 Was Hiding in Plain Sight, and We All Missed It

Galaxy Unpacked is right around the corner. At this point, we’ve seen renders, promo banners, official wallpapers, and even an early unboxing of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Basically everything. But here’s the funny part: one of the biggest confirmations may have leaked months ago… and nobody noticed until now. Not even us.
Pro Tip: Watch this Samsung page on launch day as the Galaxy S26 Ultra may pop up early for pre-order before Unpacked starts.
Galaxy S26 was hiding in plain slight, and none of us noticed
According to a report from Android Authority, a Samsung employee accidentally revealed the Galaxy S26 last year in October. You might be asking: “How did that happen?”
The employee tried to solve a technical glitch and filed a bug report on Google’s Chromium Issue Tracker, a public platform where developers discuss browser-related problems.
While reporting a frame rate issue in split-screen mode, the employee attached a video. And in that recording, the Galaxy S26 name showed up. In other words, the confirmation didn’t come from flashy marketing material. It came from a technical bug report that was publicly accessible.
How did this even happen?
During development, companies use internal builds, telemetry tags, and tracking identifiers that reference upcoming products, and we can see in the video that Galaxy S26 has an internal watermark.
Samsung likely prepared Galaxy S26 software long before launch. When the employee shared a video recording to illustrate a split-screen frame rate bug, the watermark was visible. And to add gas to the fire, the employee identified the hardware by writing a note that confirms the device is a Galaxy S26.
Sure, we all expected the Galaxy S26 name. But this turns expectation into confirmation, straight from Samsung’s own development environment. It also shows how leaks don’t always come from marketing slips or retail listings. Sometimes, they come from routine developer workflows and human errors.

With Unpacked just 48-hours away, Samsung’s secrets have mostly already shown up. But this quiet, accidental leak might be the most amusing leak of all. We are human, and we all make errors and mistakes, no matter what. Sometimes, the biggest secrets hide in the smallest details, and mostly remain buried.
