Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy S26 and S26+ with its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset across most global markets, while the S26 Ultra is likely to rely exclusively on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. That balance, however, may not last long. Looking ahead to 2027, the company appears ready to push Exynos further up the lineup, as part of a renewed effort to make its mobile processor business profitable. This effort could see the Exynos 2700 powering the Galaxy S27 Ultra in some regions.

Exynos 2700 heads toward production amid a positive outlook

According to reports from South Korean media, Samsung is targeting second-half production for Exynos 2700. Samsung Foundry will manufacture the chip using its second-generation 2nm (SF2P) process with GAA (Gate-All-Around) transistor architecture. The company expects meaningful gains in performance and efficiency, matching or even surpassing rival solutions like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon lineup.

But that’s not it. Samsung also aims to use its powerful new processor in more Galaxy S27 units. Analysts believe the Exynos 2700 could power nearly 50% of the Galaxy S27 lineup, roughly double the share seen in the current generation. Rumors suggest only 25% of all Galaxy S26 units will feature the Exynos 2600. That’s because the best-selling model (Ultra) will feature Snapdragon silicon globally.

If the Exynos 2700 rumor holds true, the chip could make its way into the Galaxy S27 Ultra as well. The Ultra model typically accounts for more than half of Samsung’s flagship sales, and the S26 Ultra is rumored to represent an even larger share this year. Considering this, it would be difficult for Exynos 2700 to power around 50% of Galaxy S27 units without appearing in the Ultra lineup.

That said, nothing here is set in stone. The Exynos 2700 is still in early development, and production timelines, yields, and strategies could all change. Final chip splits likely won’t be clear until much closer to the Galaxy S27 launch in early 2027. Even so, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Samsung’s flagship Exynos chips are staging a comeback, and it may only be a matter of time before one powers an Ultra model again.
