Samsung’s next Galaxy Book Edge laptop may arrive with a huge performance leap compared to its predecessor. The company is expected to use Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon X2 Elite processor. Early benchmarks of the chip have now come to light, showing promising speed gains.

Benchmarks hint at a big performance improvement for Snapdragon X2 Elite-powered laptops

The YouTube channel Hardware Canucks recently tested the newly announced ASUS Zenbook A14, which features the Snapdragon X2 Elite (X2E-88-100). Note that this is a pre-production unit running early drivers and firmware. The chip was tested at 31W, slightly higher than Apple’s M5 processor (26W).

In the Cinebench 2024 multi-core test, the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip scored 1,432 points. This is 48.7% faster than the Snapdragon X Elite and 24.2% faster than Apple’s M5 processor. The chip scored 146 points in the single-core test, which is 35.2% faster than the Snapdragon X Elite (108 points). However, it falls short of M5 in single-core performance (27% lower).

Furthermore, Snapdragon X2 Elite completed Blender and Handbrake tasks faster than the Snapdragon X Elite and M5. However, the M5 remained far ahead in DaVinci Resolve 20.3. These benchmark results suggest that if the next-gen Galaxy Book Edge adopts the X2 Elite chip, the laptop could offer a big jump in performance.

For the uninitiated, introduced in September 2025, X2E-88-100 is the second chip variant in Qualcomm’s new X2 laptop processor family. Built on TSMC’s 3nm mode and powered by third-generation Oryon CPU cores, it features 18 cores in total. These include 12 prime cores running up to 4.7 GHz and 6 performance cores running up to 3.4 GHz. Other features include a powerful X2-90 GPU, an NPU capable of up to 80 TOPS.

We’ll let you know when leaks about the next Galaxy Book Edge surface on the web. Meanwhile, Samsung is gearing up to make its latest Galaxy Book 6, Book 6 Pro, and Book 6 Ultra laptops available in the US this spring. These models use Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 processors.
