Samsung’s smart glasses have reportedly been in the works for quite some time. The company now appears to be planning to debut its first smart glasses sometime in 2026. It reportedly has two models in the pipeline: a standard and an advanced model, and the latest report sheds light on the latter.

Samsung prepares to enter the smart glasses market with Android XR

During its recent Q4 2025 earnings call, Samsung shared its plans for Extended Reality (XR) devices for 2026. Seong Cho from the MX Strategy Marketing said, “For XR, we plan to deliver rich, immersive, multimodal AI experiences through diverse form factors, such as next-generation AR glasses.” This suggests the company is gearing up to introduce smart glasses running Android XR, an extended reality operating system.

There’s chatter that Samsung could launch a display-less AI smart glasses model in 2026, followed by an advanced AR version in 2027. The AI model may feature a 12MP camera, allowing users to capture photos and videos. The glasses could support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. This could let users connect the smart glasses to their smartphones. In fact, the company also recently included quick pair support for glasses to its Nearby Device Scanning service.

Meanwhile, the advanced AR model may offer a more immersive experience with a built-in display. Powered by Android XR, the AR glasses could offer visual overlays and real-time information. Integration with Google’s Gemini AI may enable a host of context-aware features for smarter experiences.

Now that Samsung plans to launch AR glasses in 2026, we may see an advanced model sooner than previously expected. The company might introduce both standard and advanced smart glasses simultaneously. An earlier report suggests that the firm may debut its first smart glasses in the US, which will carry the model number SM-O200P. There is no word for other markets at the moment. We will let you know if more details surface on the web.
