Samsung has expanded the rollout of its January 2026 security update, with the Galaxy A55 now joining the Galaxy A34 in receiving the latest patch. The new security patch should soon reach more eligible models, including the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Flip 7.

Galaxy A55 joins January 2026 security update rollout

Like the Galaxy A34, the January 2026 security update is initially rolling out to the Galaxy A55 in South Korea, where it is known as the Galaxy Quantum 5. The update carries the firmware build version A556SKSS6CYL2. It focuses entirely on security improvements rather than new features, which is no surprise. Samsung is currently developing One UI 8.5 with several new features and enhancements for Galaxy devices.

In fact, it has already rolled out multiple beta builds for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in some regions, though the stable release may still be a couple of months away. The latest beta release bundled the January Security Maintenance Release (SMR), though users on One UI 8 have yet to receive the latest security patch. That should change in the coming days.

As far as the content is concerned, the January 2026 update for Galaxy devices addresses 55 vulnerabilities in total. These include a mix of Android OS fixes from Google and Samsung-specific patches, with the majority targeting One UI–related security flaws. The severity of the issues ranges from moderate to critical, making this an important update for users concerned about device security.

Samsung should soon push this security update to more devices, bringing the patch to additional Galaxy phones and tablets across more regions. Flagship models and foldables should be next in line. We will keep you posted. Meanwhile, you can check for updates manually from Settings > Software update > Download and install.
