Samsung Could See 160% Jump in Q4 2025 Operating Profit

Samsung could report solid profits in the fourth quarter of 2025. This is mainly because of soaring prices for memory chips used in AI systems. Analysts expect the company’s operating profit for the October-December period to jump about 160% year over year. If it pans out, this will mark one of the firm’s strongest quarters in years.
Rising AI memory prices could boost Samsung’s earnings outlook
According to analyst forecasts by LSEG SmartEstimate (via Reuters), Samsung’s Q4 2025 operating profit could reach 16.9 trillion won (around $11.7 billion). The company reported a profit of 6.49 trillion in the same period in 2024. This will be the firm’s highest quarterly operating profit since 2018 (posted 17.6 trillion won in Q3). Some analysts have even increased their forecasts to more than 20 trillion won as memory chip prices continue to rise faster than expected.
Speaking of Q3 2025, Samsung had already shown strong performance coming into the final quarter of the year. The company reported consolidated revenue of 86.1 trillion won and an operating profit of 12.2 trillion won. This was driven by robust semiconductor demand and sales of its latest smartphones.
Market researchers said DDR5 DRAM memory chips saw a jump of more than 300% in the fourth quarter from a year earlier. As a result, Samsung has greatly benefited from these price increases, boosting profit margins in its semiconductor business.
Just over a year ago, Samsung was struggling with weak earnings in the growing AI chip market. The company mainly lagged its arch-rival SK Hynix in supplying HBM3E chips to Nvidia. However, it has reportedly recently begun supplying those chips to the GPU maker and is now preparing to secure deals for next-generation HBM4 chips. As a result, we could see further profit gains in the coming month.
Samsung is now reportedly gearing up to release its official preliminary earnings report for Q4 2025 on Thursday. We’ll let you know when the results are out. Stay tuned.
