Samsung Begins One UI 8.5 Testing on Galaxy Z Flip 6, Fold 6

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 development is in full swing, not just for Galaxy S26 and S25 lineups, but also for other models. We’ve seen internal test builds for the likes of the Galaxy S24, S23, A56, A36, Fold 7, Flip 7, and many more. Now, the first One UI 8.5 builds for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 have popped up on official test servers.

While One UI 8.5 Beta remains exclusive to the Galaxy S25 lineup for now, Samsung is hard at work on the upcoming update for other devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 were recently seen running early One UI 8.5 builds on internal test units. The initial firmware carries the build version DYLB for both models, though it may not be the final build.
As of now, Samsung has shown no signs of expanding the beta program beyond the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Even if it does, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are unlikely to receive beta updates. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Galaxy S24 line are the most likely candidates to get beta releases next.
Users of 2024 foldables must wait until the stable One UI 8.5 release sometime next year, likely around April 2026. The update will debut with the Galaxy S26 series in the first quarter and gradually reach other devices, including the Fold 6 and Flip 6.
The wait should be worth it, though. Despite being a mid-cycle release, One UI 8.5 is a significant update. It brings a refined UI design, with icons adopting depth effects instead of flat visuals. You also get more powerful customization tools, enhanced system apps, upgraded animations, and better integration with Galaxy AI features. Samsung should roll out more beta builds in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
