One UI 8.5 Brings New Design and Smart Nudges to Samsung Calculator

Samsung’s Calculator app is getting a notable visual and functional upgrade in One UI 8.5. The refreshed layout looks more polished and dynamic, better aligning with Samsung’s modern design language. The app is also gaining a smart new feature called Nudges, which surfaces numbers and formulas copied to your clipboard for quick, one-tap entry.

Samsung Calculator offers interaction effects and drop shadows in One UI 8.5

One of the first changes you’ll notice in the updated Calculator app is a subtle new interaction effect. When you tap any primary button, the app displays a soft glowing aura, giving it a slightly more tactile feel. The glow color changes based dark/light theme and the specific Calculator mode you’re using.

Primary buttons also now feature a drop shadow effect, giving the UI more depth. It makes buttons stand out visually, especially when compared to the flatter design used in One UI 8 and earlier. The shadow effect carries over to the Scientific and Unit Converter modes. Speaking of which, these buttons move to the top in One UI 8.5, alongside he history button. Samsung has also reorganized a few other keys, including Backspace and Brackets.

Beyond visual upgrades, the Calculator gains a practical new feature called Nudges. When you open the app, it will now suggest numbers and formulas that you’ve recently copied to your clipboard. These suggestions appear just above the primary buttons, allowing you to insert them into the Calculator with a single tap.

Despite all the enhancements, Samsung Calculator’s One UI 8.5 update doesn’t bring a currency converter. At this point, we do not expect the company to add this feature before the official release, which is expected in early 2026. Beta programs may begin as early as next week, though.
