Samsung Strengthens Leadership With 2026 Executive Promotions

Samsung has announced its 2026 regular executive personnel promotions as the company prepares for the future of technology. The Korean firm promoted 161 employees to higher leadership positions, including 51 vice presidents, 93 managing directors, 1 fellow, and 16 masters. This comes just days after the company officially appointed TM Roh as the Head of its Device eXperience (DX) Division and a co-CEO.

Through the latest promotions, Samsung aims to strengthen its leadership in future technologies such as AI, robotics, and semiconductors. The company also maintained its performance-based management philosophy, promoting employees for providing solid results in key business areas. Moreover, it promoted promising young talent to speed up generational change and develop the next group of executives for the future.
Samsung recognized Vice President Lee Yoon-soo, Head of the Samsung Research Data Intelligence Team in the DX Division, for developing new data-based technologies and business models. Meanwhile, Vice President Lee Seong-jin will lead the Language AI Core Technology Development Group, MX Business Unit, and DX Division. The executive has played a key role in building LLM-based generative AI core technologies.
In robotics, Choi Go-eun, Executive Director of the Samsung Research Robot Platform Team, received a promotion for expertise in robot S/W technology. In smartphone development, Samsung recognized Managing Director Choi Seung-gi from the MX Division for helping introduce slim and lightweight designs in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Likewise, Vice President Kang Min-seok, Head of the Smartphone PP team, led planning for Galaxy AI and new form factors such as the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Display-related promotions include Kim Dae-young, Managing Director of the Product Display Lab, who has led the development of new self-luminous QD and OLED models. In the semiconductor division, Vice President Jang Sil-wan, Head of the Solution Platform Development Team, was promoted for developing server SSD firmware and architecture.
