Samsung Rolls Out One UI 8 Update for Galaxy Tab A9 in India

Samsung recently began rolling out the One UI 8 update to the Galaxy Tab A9, but at first it was limited to South Korea. Now, the Android 16–based One UI 8 update for the Galaxy Tab A9 is available in India as well. It was one of the very few devices still waiting for the update, so the rollout should be wrapped up soon.

Galaxy Tab A9 picks up One UI 8 update in India

As shared by Reddit user Kneega_Yadav, the One UI 8 update is now available and rolling out to Galaxy Tab A9 users in India. The build version is X115XXU6DYK3, and the update weighs in at around 2.59GB. It includes the October 2025 security patch. This is a bit disappointing given that several other devices have already started receiving the latest patch.

If you’re in India and own a Galaxy Tab A9, you can check for the update. You can head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once the update finishes downloading, tap Install now. The installation will take a few minutes. After which, your tablet will restart and boot up with the latest software and all its new features.

The Galaxy Tab A9 is eligible for three major OS upgrades and four years of security updates. Since it launched with Android 13–based One UI 5, the One UI 8 update will be its final major OS upgrade. It will most likely also receive the One UI 8.5 update, which is technically included in the promised update roadmap.

Despite what the name might suggest, Samsung plans to bundle a significant number of new features into One UI 8.5. It will officially debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early January, although the beta program could begin earlier. That could happen possibly before the end of the year. It’s hard to say how many of these new features the Galaxy Tab A9 will inherit, but One UI 8.5 is shaping up to be a major update.
