Samsung has made a major shift in the company’s leadership structure. The company has officially appointed TM Roh as the Head of its Device eXperience (DX) Division and a co-CEO. This move shows the firm’s intention to strengthen organizational stability while continuing to push innovation across all consumer product categories.

Samsung announces leadership change amid AI-focused strategy

Created in 2021, the DX Division operates the Consumer Electronics (CE) and IT & Mobile Communications (IM) divisions. The division covers a bunch of Samsung’s products, including smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs, home appliances, network equipment, and health-related devices. Since DX controls the consumer ecosystem, its leadership plays a big role in boosting user experience across the global product lineup.

Samsung sees Roh as the right leader for this job, as the company ramps up its efforts in AI-powered device experiences. For the uninitiated, He has led the company’s mobile business since 2020 while advancing the Galaxy smartphone lineup. Earlier this year, Roh stepped in as the acting Head of the DX Division and Head of the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business Unit. Now he will continue to oversee the MX Business with expanded responsibility as the official Head of the DX Division.

Samsung also confirmed that Roh will serve as CEO of the company, alongside Young Hyun Jun, Vice Chairman and Head of Device Solutions (DS) Division. The two executives will lead the company with a co-CEO structure.

Along with Roh’s appointment, the company also introduced new leaders to strengthen technology leadership. The firm named Janghyun Yoon as President, Chief Technology Officer of the DX Division, and Head of Samsung Research. Meanwhile, it appointed Hongkun Park as Head of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT). President Yoon previously served as CEO of Samsung Venture Investment. Park, meanwhile, is a professor at Harvard University and a researcher in nanoscience, quantum science, and engineering.
