Galaxy Tab A9 Gets New Features with One UI 8 Update

Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 8 to the Galaxy Tab A9, one of the very few Galaxy devices pending the Android 16 update. The new version is now live in South Korea, with a global release expected in the coming weeks. Other eligible devices still awaiting One UI 8 should also pick up the update soon.
Galaxy Tab A9 grabs Samsung’s One UI 8 update with the October security patch
This update for the Galaxy Tab A9 carries the firmware build version X110XXU6DYK3 and bundles the October 2025 security patch. The OTA Package weighs about 2.5GB, confirming a host of new features alongside security enhancements. Some notable changes include a fresh user interface with cleaner visuals, smoother animations, and improved responsiveness; enhanced AI and multitasking features; and an optimized tablet experience.
Basically, upgrading to One UI 8 breathes new life into your aging tablet. It makes better use of large-screen real estate with enhanced split-screen and multi-window support, improving the overall user experience. With the Korean rollout now underway, the update should soon expand globally.
If you are using a Galaxy Tab A9, you can check for updates manually from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap Download and install. If the update shows up, download the OTA package and follow the instructions to install it. Your device will restart with One UI 8 once the installation is complete.
The Galaxy Tab A9 is also expected to receive One UI 9, based on Android 17. The update may arrive towards the end of 2026. Ahead of that, Samsung should upgrade the tablet to One UI 8.5, a mid-cycle update with new features and functional enhancements. One UI 8.5 is expected to debut early next year with the Galaxy S26 series. A wider rollout may follow in the second quarter of 2026. Stay tuned for more.
