Samsung dropped a few major hints in its latest earnings report. Alongside confirming plans for the Exynos 2600 in the Galaxy S26 series, the company also hinted at a broader rollout of its long-rumored tri-fold smartphone in 2026. Supposedly called the Galaxy Z TriFold, the device could make its debut in select markets as early as next month.

Samsung may have plans for a global release of the Galaxy Z TriFold

The Galaxy Z TriFold has been one of the most anticipated mobile innovations in years. After multiple leaks and concept showcases, Samsung recently gave us an official glimpse of the device. A prototype was showcased at a private event in South Korea earlier this week. Local reports suggest the company will unveil the phone at the APEC Summit 2025 later this week, with sales beginning sometime in November.

However, Samsung may not release the tri-fold globally next month. Expected to be priced at around $3,000, the device may see a limited launch in some strategic markets, including Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE. Thankfully, a global release may be in the pipeline.

In its Q3 2025 earnings release, Samsung outlined plans to “strengthen its AI leadership with form factor innovations” in 2026. While the company didn’t explicitly mention the tri-fold by name, the phrase clearly points toward this long-teased device. Regular yearly updates to the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip lines hardly qualify as “form factor innovations,” making the tri-fold the most logical reference.

This subtle confirmation suggests that Samsung’s tri-fold could see a global release in 2026, following the initial limited launch later this year. There have been rumors of a US release before, so the dots align perfectly. For now, all eyes are on the APEC Summit 2025, which kicks off tomorrow, October 31. Could this be when we finally see the tri-fold in action? We’ll find out soon enough.
