One UI 8.5 Will Get Extra AI Smarts, Including Uber Suggestions

One UI 8.5 has been leaking more than the tap in my kitchen. The latest test firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review) shows some interesting new UI features. We previously showed some user facing additions, but there is more going on under the hood. Let’s jump in.

You could pick your AI flavor with One UI 8.5!

Our friends at Android Authority previously shared some strings suggesting the ability to change the AI agent that will power various Galaxy AI features. We’ve managed to surface the page where the user would switch their flavor of AI.

This was found as a hidden activity for the Personal Data Intelligence app, which powers features like the Now Brief and the Suggested Apps widget. This also lines up with the addition of Gemini’s Nano Banana image suggestions in the Now Brief. So far, only Gemini appears running this One UI 8.5 build, but competing AI platforms like Perplexity or even Samsung’s very own Gauss models could take charge.

Quickly catch an Uber from the Now Brief

Also contained within Personal Data Intelligence is a peculiar-looking screen, what seems to be a way to quickly hail an Uber or possibly Lyft cab. At the top, you get an Uber icon and an empty space for another icon beside it. Below that, a Gemini logo appears with the heading Booking a ride. Beneath that are options to choose which app you’re booking with, as well as your pickup and drop-off locations. The layout looks very similar to the AI wallpaper generation UI.
